The Dance Academy program began in 2009, and has grown over the past several years to over 90 students. The Ukrainian dance academy is a great way for children to experience Ukrainian culture, learn the history of Ukrainian dance, build flexibility for other sports, leadership opportunities, and build life-long friendships.

The core program uses a syllabus for Ukrainian dance which is comprised of classical ballet, character and Ukrainian dance technique. It is complimented with non-competitive performance opportunities at Festival of Trees, Oil Kings, UFest, school presentations to Edmonton Public and Catholic schools, and a yearend performance.

Our instructional team of Debbie Kachmar-Potter, Tasha Orysiuk and Zhenia Bahri challenge our students to be the best they can be. Their collaborative knowledge has created a fantastic program for the students of St. Martin.

The students are excited to perform three dances from the central region of Ukraine and one from the Transcarpathian region. The students from grades 1, 4, 5, and 6 will demonstrate their understanding of the steps of these regions and proudly perform at UFest.
